Amendment to Law No. 19.496, on the Protection of Consumer Rights

This amendment establishes the right of consumers to have full knowledge of all service and product conditions entering a contracted agreement with a provider. The providers will not be able to make changes to prices, fees or surcharges for as long as the contract is upheld. All lending conditions should be determined within a span of seven days, and all financial information should be made available by that date.

The National Consumer Service will certify contracts with a SERNAC stamp for as long as they have a customer service which allows clients to voice their unconformity with a product, and if they allow consumers to contact a mediator in case of a discrepancy on the terms of service.
