Central Bank of Nigeria - Circular on Clarification on the Requirements for Agent Banking

The Central Bank of Nigeria in February 2013 issued "Guidelines for the Regulation of Agent Banking and Agent Banking Relationships in Nigeria".

The following approval requirements for agent banking were issued for deposit money banks (DMBs), micro finance banks (MFBs) and primary mortgage banks (PMBs) that intend to appoint entities to act as their agents in carrying out agent banking activities on their behalf. The circular covers issues related to the following topics:

1. Application Requirements for Deposit Money Banks (DMBs)
2. Supervision of Agents
3. Application Requirements for Micro Finance Banks (MFBs) and Primary Mortgage Banks (PMBs)
