Anti-Money Laundering (AML) Law

This Anti Money Laundering (AML) Law prevents, controls and counters Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing activities. This Law establishes the Inter-institutional Commission for the Prevention of Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing (CIPLAFT).  CIPLAFT is composed of permanent representatives from the National Commission of Bank and Insurance and the National Defense Council.

All institutions must follow due diligence processes. These processes include identifying final beneficiaries and their funding sources. Financial entities are advised to conduct in situ investigations if they doubt the legitimacy of their clients' credentials.
