Guidance by FATF on the topic of virtual currency payment products and services (VCPPS), with regard to the application of FATF Recommendations and anti-money laundering (AML) and countering the financing of terrorism (CFT).measures.
This guidance recognizes the emergence of virtual currencies and their implementation within payment products and services as an electronic method of payment, including across the Internet, which present AML/CFT risks. This FATF Guidance focuses on such products and services which provide 'gateways to the regulated financial system, in particular convertible currency exchangers' and recommends AML/CFT measures and identifies challenges to implementation.
