The webinar will look at trends in interoperability between DFS systems, particularly focusing on governance, fair and equitable business model and then efficient clearing and settlement mechanisms. This webinar also looks at the pros and cons of the bilateral and switch models. While markets are now focusing on solving for the switch, they actually need to focus on solving scheme governance and business models first.

Charles is a consultant primarily to CGAP and IFC in Payments and Mobile Money across the Africa region. He led the Tanzania domestic MFS interoperability project for IFC and more recently contracted to FSDU to assist in enabling MFS interoperability in Uganda. He is currently involved in various MFS interoperability initiatives in Africa. Prior to this he was General Manager for Visa in sub-Saharan Africa and was responsible for Visa’s business across 25 African markets.
He has been involved within the payments industry across Africa for over 20 years. Before joining Visa, he was a Senior Manager at Nedbank Card and fulfilled various roles in the payment space in South Africa. He is the past independent chair of Zoona and currently an advisor to Yoco, a mPos start up in SouthAfrica. Charles holds a B-Comm from the University of Stellenbosch, a MBA from the University of Cape Town and attended the Accelerated Development Programme at the London Business School.
